In the past some people have asked me “What does a tax lawyer do for fun, sharpen pencils?”  While I enjoy grinding lead as much as the next person, I prefer burning rubber.  As the driver for the CodeBlue/Tax-Whistleblower.com Racing Team, I compete in sports car racing events throughout the Eastern United States.  We are looking forward to an exciting 2011 season with a variety of things lined up, including:

Lotus Cup – SpLotus Cup.jpgorts car manufacturer Group Lotus PLC has announced that it is bringing the worldwide “Lotus Cup” sports car racing series to the United States, and also to our home turf here on the East Coast.   Specifically, the Lotus Cup USA East Coast Series plans to come through our favorite race track in the country, Watkins Glen International (NY) as well as Road Atlanta (GA).  Road Atlanta will be a new track to us, but we are really looking forward to it!

RRobin Hood Rally.jpgobin Hood Rally – In early 2010 the CodeBlue/Tax-Whistleblower.com Racing Team was selected to compete in the Robin Hood Rally, an amateur racing series being made into a reality TV show to benefit numerous charities.  The Rally consists of a series of time trials on closed 5-10 mile stretches of public roads on the East Coast.  Our supercharged Lotus is competing against Porsches, Corvettes, Ferraris and all manner of other race and street cars for the fastest adjusted time through the course based on our power-to-weight ratio.  The Robin Hood Rally is slated to be broadcast on the cable network Versus, with shooting occurring during the summer of 2010 and hopefully wrapping up production in the summer of 2011.

Skip BarberSkip Barber.jpg Regional Race Series – Since 1975, the Skip Barber Race Series has become the largest open-wheel amateur championship in North America. Each year, hundreds of drivers take part in exciting, fun and hassle-free open-wheel racing at some of North America’s great road courses.  After completing Skip Barber Racing Schools at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (CA), Sebring International Raceway (FL), and Palm Beach International Speedway (FL), driver Scott Knott plans to run race weekend or two in their open wheel Skip Barber formula cars.

NASA Time Trials – For Thumbnail image for NASA.pngseveral years we have been travelling all over the US to compete in this National auto competition program, utilizing Regional series based on a time trial style format, with rules that establish car classifications to provide a contest of driver skill.   The best part about the NASA Time Trial series is that any closed-wheel street or racecar can be used to compete in this series.  We of course are using our supercharged Lotus Elise in their “TTS” class.
